CLARION – Clarion County Department of Planning and Development will host the 2023 Clarion County Recycling Day on Saturday, June 3, at the Clarion County Park in Shippenville from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pre-registration is required for household hazardous waste, universal waste and electronic waste. To pre-register, call (412)567-6566.

Items that have not been emptied or cleaned and those not listed on the list will be rejected.

Residents and small business with less than fifty employees are invited.

It is not necessary to separate these items:

  • Paper — Paperboard, office paper and junk mail (envelopes, flyers, brochures, postcards, etc.Newspaper (remove rubber bands, bags and strings), magazines, catalogs, phone books and cardboard bags.
  • Plastic (No. 1, No. 2
  • 5 only) — plastic bottles, milk and water jugs. 5 only) — milk and water jugs, plastic bottles, liquid detergent, bleach and softener bottles.
  • Metal — Aluminum, steel or tin food and beverage cans, empty, clean and dry foil containers.
  • Glass — Clear and colored.
  • Also accepting:

  • All scrap metals
  • Greeting cards — Covers only with no writing on the back.

The fees for electronic items are 60 cents a pound for televisions and monitors. Other electronics include: desktop and laptop computers, printers, scanners, fax machines, copiers, mice, speakers, keyboards, drives, etc., stereo CDs, Blue-ray discs (DVDs), VCRs, tape players, etc., cassettes/8-track tapes or CDs.

Paint is collected at 70 cents a pound, and household hazardous waste will be $1 a pound. These include: household cleaning products such as bleach, adhesives or glues; aerosols; stain and thinners/finishes; car waxes and polishes; gas, diesel kerosene & additives.

Other “universal waste” will be collected for 80 cents per pound including: common batteries (alkaline, zinc-carbon), button cells, reactive, lantern batteries – spot lamps, incandescent, compacts, fluorescent bulbs (neon and UV lamps), HID, sodium and mercury vapor lamps (straight or U-shape).

Freon and propane tanks will be collected at a rate of 60 cents per pound.
