Quebec police seize 3D-printed weapons, software


After police seize 3D-printed weapons from a Saint-Alban home, about an hour west Quebec City, a Quebec man was taken into custody and charged.


Officers from the Sûreté du Québec, Quebec City police department and the Canada Border Services Agency searched the home on Principale Street on Wednesday.


Police took a number of 3D printed items, including seven handguns and five handgun barrels. They also seized two 3D printers, two SD cards with plans and software that could be used to create 3D-printed guns, and two SD card.


Officers also confiscated seven silencers and a long gun regular, as well a dart-launcher, 200 rounds of ammunition, and 15 bladed guns, including two shurikens, better known as throwing stars.


Jypsy Tremblay (32), appeared in court to face charges for possessing firearms, and other prohibited weapons devices, ammunition, and devices.


He is currently in custody.


A 28-year old woman was also detained in connection to the seizures. However, she was released.
