Fashionite 2022 – Indian Institute Of Fashion Technology Concludes

Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, a Limca book record holder conducted its 19th Fashionite 2022 on the theme ‘Shadow of Style’. This was an exceptional Annual Fashion Show, in which the 73 talented designers created around 144 unique ensembles. The models were displayed on a specially designed ramp at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. It was a celebration with over 1000 guests on the cold night of 25th November 2022. The show began with the lighting of a lamp by dignitaries who were present at the do.

 Dignitaries like Dr.Gopinath or Rtn.Subhashini were the Chief Guests of the evening. Mrs. Viji was the Chief Academic Officer of IIFT and welcomed the distinguished members, respectful parents and energetic academic trainers, students, and all other world media.

 Based on criteria such as justice-to-theme, color aesthetics and innovation in silhouettes, presentation collections with accessories, styling, ornamentation, and originality, the jury selected 15 finalists from 73 participants.

 The show’s themes were Traditional, Ethnic and Western, Indo-Western Greek, Egyptian, Tribal Art, as well as other art forms. The use of different colors communicated various messages to the audience. The fabrics used ranged from Velvet, Lycra, Taffeta, Barso, Chiffon, Georgette, Silk, Jersey, Glass Tissue, Brocades, Jute silk, Drill, Netted fabrics & many more fabrics that are in trend, some of the garment designs were highly accessorized with headgears, Handmade jewellery, Handmade Footwear & some of the designs had highly intricate embellishment and surface ornamentation such as Zardozi work, Kundan work, bead work, Aari work, patch work, Quilling, traditional Indian embroideries, painting & printing were incorporated to present trends combining the materials from different states.

The First category of Awards was for IIFT Best Designer of the Year 2022 and was bagged by Ms. Surpritha M G, Second category of Awards won by Mr. Yathish S L, ‘BEST FASHION ILLUSTRATOR & DESIGNER’ was won by Ms.Niharika B R, Best Designer Award in B.Sc Fashion & Apparel Design was won by Mr.Charlee Vishal L, Second Runner up for Best Designer Award was won Ms. Nischitha Y ’. The next category of award was for ‘BEST DESIGNER-NON TEXTILE and was won by  Ms. N V Varshini, The Third category of Awards were won by Ms. Shwetha H R  & Ms. Geetha Priya G.

The First Runner up for Best Designer Award was won by Greeshma S for her theme ‘PAITHANI’ inspired by ‘MAHARASHTRIAN TEXTILE’. Sambavi S was awarded the second runner-up award. The fourth category was for Best collection. This was won by five students Deepthi Bharadwaj and Rashmi S. Maheshwari, Maheshwari, Mamta and Vibha Fashion Designing and Boutique Management.

An award ceremony was held to recognize BSc rank holders. The creative displays by their wards and family members left the audience spellbound. It was a treat for the eyes, with models, designers and National Celebrities taking part. 

The IIFT Spokesperson said, ‘We are proud yet spellbound by the creativity of our students, we wish them all the best for their future endeavours. They will be the ones to take over fashion, one design at time.

Vote of thanks by Ms. Seema Savio, Principal of IIFT College of Fashion, concluded the show. All the designers received Prestigious IIFT certificates and mementos in recognition of their immense effort and hard work.
